- In order to accept this item, you must have an account on robertspaceindustries.com. Access to Star Citizen (the game) requires a game package.
- Irreversible Action: Once you apply the upgrade (CCU) to a ship in your hangar, the original ship is replaced and cannot be retrieved separately.
- Item Transfer: Before applying an upgrade, remove any items stored on the original ship. Items left on the ship will be lost when the upgrade is applied.
- Insurance and Bonuses: The insurance and any other bonuses from the original ship package typically carry over to the new ship after the upgrade.
- Melting for Credit: If you later exchange the upgraded ship for store credit (a process often called "melting"), the amount of credit you receive will be based on the total amount you paid for the original ship plus the cost of the CCU.

- Identical In-Game Functionality: A Standalone Ship functions exactly the same in the game as if you had bought it directly from the official RSI website. It is yours permanently.
- Difference from Direct RSI Purchase: The primary difference is that a Standalone Ship may come with different hangar flair and a different hangar type compared to one bought directly from RSI.
- Gift Claim Process Note: When you click to claim the gifted upgrade, the email might temporarily display the name of the original, cheaper ship you started with. Do not be alarmed. The correct, final ship will appear in your hangar.

- Lifetime Insurance, or LTI as it is commonly referred to, is a special insurance policy that will cost the insured player no extra UEC payments to maintain their coverage. Only those specific pledges that are noted to include LTI will have this "free" coverage once the game goes live.
- Players will still need to cover the cost of insurance claims and repairs, regardless of if their ship is covered by LTI or some other standard, finite-length plan.
- LTI is offered rarely with certain pledges and promotions. These may include past Kickstarter pledges, Concept Promotions, and extremely high value pledges like the Idris.
RSI Support cannot add this to pledges upon request.
